Watchtower Quotes

And The Problems with Their Many Changes

“Christians cannot be wishy-washy going back to the same teachings

 they had rejected earlier.”

Watchtower issue, 5/15/1978, p.298

New Light “… with God there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from God must be like its author. A new view of truth never can contradict a former truth. ‘New light’ never extinguishes older ‘light,’ but adds to it.” The Watchtower Reprints, May 1881, p. 188

“But if ever you get from us either tract or paper which you do not find in harmony with the Scriptures, surely let us know wherein it disagrees, and do not circulate it.” (Watchtower Reprints, March 1, 1894, p.1629)

Is the Lord Jesus Christ Michael the Archangel?

“…the name Michael applied to God’s Son before he left heaven to become Jesus Christ and also after his return” (Page 393 of Insight on the Scriptures)

  • JESUS CHRIST IS NOT AN ANGEL, Note: Originally they had it right, see this quote:

“Let all the angels of God worship him’; (that must include Michael, the chief angel, hence Michael is not the Son of God)” (The Watchtower Reprints, Nov. 11,1879, p.48)

  • KJV Bible: Hebrews chapter 1 teaches that Jesus is “MUCH BETTER than the angels” (vs 4 ); The Father never called ANY ANGEL HIS SON (vs. 5 ); The ANGELS WORSHIP JESUS, even Michael (vs. 6 ). The Father calls His Son “God” (Ho Theos) in verse 8. NOWHERE does scripture say Jesus is Michael. The Father never invited any angel to sit at His right hand (vs.13 ).

Who is saying, “I come quickly” according to Rev. 22:12 & 20 ?

Who is the Almighty of Rev. 1:8?

  • The Watchtower Reprints, April 15, 1893, p. 1515, Refers to Jesus…

“…It is since his resurrection that the message has gone forth – ‘All power in heaven and in earth is given unto me.’ (Matt. 28:18) Consequently it is only since then that he could be called the Almighty (as in Rev. 1:8)”

  • (New World Testament, Rev. 1:8) Refers to Jehovah as the Almighty

NOTE: The problem here with the confusion concerning Jesus and Jehovah is that Jehovah’s Witnesses claim… “We Have Restored The Name “Jehovah” In The Greek Text Everywhere The Hebrew Text Is Quoted”. On pages 11 and 12 of the Kingdom Interlinear (p 18–1969 ed.) the Watchtower Society promised that they would insert the name Jehovah where the New Testament (Greek) writers were quoting the Old Testament (Hebrew) writers. They deliberately missed a few places!

Christian Answer  – JESUS IS JEHOVAH! Using the Watchtower rule above, we SHOULD find in their translation…

Philippians 2:10,11, quoting Isaiah 45:23 “Jesus Christ is Jehovah to the glory….”

1 Peter 3:15, based on Isaiah 8:13 SHOULD be “But sanctify the Christ as Jehovah in your hearts.”

Is there Conscious life after death?

  • There Is A Conscious Life After Death- “While the glorified members of the Kingdom beyond the Vail are doing a work in shaping the current of present events and preparing for the glorious reign, those on this side of the Vail have also an important work.” (Thy Kingdom Come; 1891; 1915 ed.; p. 303), also see…(Revelation It’s Grand Climax At Hand!; 1988; p. 125), (The New Creation; 1899; 1915 ed.; p. 555-556), (Riches; 1936; p. 101)

  • There Is Not A Conscious Life After Death- “So when your soul dies, you die, you cease to have conscious existence. The Bible repeatedly speaks of the soul as dying. But are there not at least some scriptures that could be understood as suggesting the possibility of man’s having an immortal soul? (The Watchtower, April 15, 1973, p. 231)
