God is not a man…

“And the Lord spake unto Moses

face to face, as a man speaketh

 unto his friend…” Exodus 33:11

An Answer to Latter Day Saints and the False Notion That

 God the Father Was Ever

 A Mortal Man.

The Answer to Exodus 33:11

Exodus 33:9-17 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the Lord talked with Moses. [10] And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door. [11] And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Questions to consider…….

1] In verse 10 above, in what form did God appear?

Answer: as a cloudy pillar

2] If God the Father had appeared in a bodily form and Moses actually saw His face, would this verse below follow the verses above?

[Ex. 33:20] And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

Answer: NO

Exodus 33:18-23 (the rest of the story)
And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. [19] And he said, I Will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. [20] And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me. and live. [21] And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: [22] And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: [23] And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

3] Since God is a spirit, (John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.) how could He be seen as a mortal?

Answer: He couldn’t

4] Could these verses appear in the Scriptures if God was ever a man? (Other than being manifested in the person of Jesus Christ, God the Son), John 1:18, 1 John 4:12, Numbers 23:19, Job 9:32

Answer: NO

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1: 18

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 1 John 4: 12

God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath. he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19

For he is not a man, as I am, that I should
answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Job 9:32

5] If Mormons believe that God was a man, wouldn’t Joseph Smith have taught it?

Answer: YES

6] But did he?

Answer: NO

Notice two of the same verses we just mentioned in the Joseph Smith Translation…….

(JST Numbers 23:19.)
God is not a man that he should lie; neither the son of man that he should repent; hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

(JST Job 9:32.)
For he is not a man. as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

7] God was only revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ His Son, God the Son. That must mean that Jesus was God and not part of His creation, right?

Answer: YES

Biblical proof of the deity of Christ…

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing that was made. John 1:1-3

And the Word was made flesh. and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 Tim. 3:16

Contradictions of the LDS Testimony…

GOD HAS A BODY
(Doctrine and Covenants 130:22.)
22 The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s

Infamous Mormon quote:
“The glory of God is intelligence.” Man can only be saved as fast as he gains knowledge. (See D&C 93:36.) This means that we are in a state of eternal progression. We believe that:
As man is, God once was: as God is, man may become, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
(Lorenzo Snow, quoted by Preston Nibley, Presidents of the Church, p. 179.)

NOW, GOD IS A SPIRIT
Book of Mormon
Alma 18:26-28
26 And then Ammon said: Believest thou that there is a Great Spirit?
27 And he said, yea.
28 And Ammon said: This is God. And Ammon said unto him again: Believest thou….that this Great Spirit, who is God, created all things. which are in heaven and in the earth?

Alma 22:8-11
8 And now when Aaron heard this, his heart began to rejoice, and he said: Behold, assuredly as thou livest, 0 king, there is a God.
9 And the king said: Is God that Great Spirit that brought our fathers out of the land of Jerusalem? 10 And Aaron said unto him: Yea. he is that Great Spirit, and he created all things both in heaven and in earth. Believest thou this?
11 And he said: Yea, I believe that the Great Spirit created all things, and I desire that ye should tell me concerning all these things, and I will believe thy words.
