Does God Dwell In Men’s Hearts?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

2 Cor. 6:16

LDS Contradictions…..

LDS says God dwells in the heart…..

 Book of Mormon,  Alma 34:36,

And this I know, because the Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell; yea, and he has also said that the righteous shall sit down in his kingdom, to go no more out; but their garments should be made white through the blood of the Lamb.

LDS also says that God does not dwell in the heart….

Doctrines and Covenants 130:3

John 14:23—The appearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal appearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.

(Considering this verse)

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.               John 14:23 (KJV)

Joseph Smith Translation,

John 14:23,

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

JST, Rom. 8:9,

But ye are not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

(The above verses from the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible states that the Spirit of God, and the Spirit of Christ both dwell in us)

JST, 1 John  4:12-16,

No man hath seen God at any time,

except them who believe

. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

The Holy Bible, KJV,…..

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son

to be the Savior of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.                        1 John 4:12-16

(Note: I John 4:12-16, is translated word for word just as the King James Version states it, for the exception of the

inserted quote by Joseph Smith in v.12, ‘except them who believe’

, (which cannot be rendered by the original manuscripts anyway), however it does say that even  Joseph Smith believed that God dwells in the hearts of men.)
